The Técnico Library (BIST) has just renewed and expanded its subscription to the Springer Nature publishing house, giving the entire academic community access to 13 ebook collections (six more than last year) in Engineering, Science and Technology.

The subscribed collections are:

«On December 18, 2024, between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., the Técnico Library will host the webinar “Introduction to Excel: Essential Functions”.

This training session has the following objectives:

• Understand Excel functions
• Apply some of the main functions in data management

Although it is aimed at 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cycle students, participation is open to anyone interested. The webinar will be held in Portuguese.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is required. The Zoom ID will be sent by email to registered participants.»

The Library of IST-Taguspark is offering a research initiation scholarship for students of any undergraduate or master’s degree program at IST.

The scholarship is open for applications from June 15 to June 21, 2023, and is intended for students interested in working in the field of Information Systems and Information Science.

Training – Ethical behavior in science: citing and referencing scientific works – via Zoom meeting, March 30th – 5pm/6:30pm

This training action has the following objectives:

Problematize the concept of ethics in science management;

Understand the relationship between three concepts: Copyright, Citation Rights and plagiarism;

Understand the importance of correctly citing and referencing information;

Identify the different norms of citation and bibliographic referencing;

Develop in trainees skills for the correct citation and referencing of information sources.

Until further notice, the following should be taken into consideration:

Library opening hours (from Monday to Friday, except holidays. Closed in August):

• Books room (Service desk): 10h-13h, 14h-18h
• Individual study rooms (Largest Room and Aquarium): 8h-20h
• Group study rooms: closed

NOTES: the library may not be available if requested for evaluations.

Rules:

• The use of face mask is mandatory, as defined in IST regulations.
• Furniture should not be moved.
• Book loans can be made in take-away or presential mode.
• Access to shelves will be allowed to one user at a time after sanitize hands.
• Each one should clean his/her working place. Cleaning supplies are provided.
• Access to the library is restricted to IST community.
